URGENT ACTION NEEDED BY Thursday, March 27 at Midnight. There’s $250K in this years budget that we need in order to move forward with the Cohen Eastern Greenwich Civic Center outdoor courts.

Town of Greenwich SUMMER Pickleball programs sign-ups will open on April 1 at 10AM - as usual, be there at 10AM or lose out!
On March 26, the Board of Parks & Rec will meet for their next regular meeting.

The Town of Greenwich Pickleball (and tennis) Court Reservation system will open on April 7. Only those with a current 2025 Park Pass with Pickle will be able to reserve.
In January, Parks and Rec Director Joe Siciliano indicated that a CEGCC ribbon cutting will take place as soon as the furniture / fixtures are in place and a date is coordinated with the Cohen Family. (It is now March 17)

Jan 3 thru March 29, 2025.To keep Pickleball in Greenwich welcoming, inclusive and joyful, the town has implemented a Pickleball CODE OF ETIQUETTE. This action was taken in response to growing conflicts and general lack of civility among players.
According to Parks and Rec Director Joe Siciliano, there will be funds for the four new outdoor courts at CEGCC, even if bids exceed the $375K in the budget.
However, the NEW BID documents - with the 7 foot sidelines - have not yet been published (as of March 15, 2025).

Loughlin Ave Courts, Cos Cob, CT
OUTDOOR - 18 Courts
Note, the surfaces need repair on most of these courts. Cohen Eastern Greenwich Civic Center courts are in dire need of fixes.
Christiano Park: 2 dedicated Pickleball courts (the only two in town)
Loughlin Park: 4 Pickleball courts - on tennis courts (two heavy duty portable nets, plus two nets on wheels)
Western Middle School: 6 Pickleball Courts on three tennis courts (two heavy duty nets provided)
Byram Park: 4 Pickleball courts on two of three tennis courts (nets on wheels provided
Cohen Eastern Civic Center: 4 Pickleball courts on 2 tennis courts (two heavy duty nets provided, and two portable nets (1 donated by Bill Herz - thanks Bill!) Courts are lit. (As in lights, the actual condition is poor).
INDOOR - 2 Courts
Eastern Civic Center - 3 Courts in gym (building may be opened in late March February? 2025. Three indoor courts will be available for town programs.)
Bendheim Western Civic Center - 2 Pickleball Courts in gym/portable nets, non regulation size.
History of Pickleball in Greenwich.
Pickleball was created in Bainbridge WA in 1965, on a backyard badminton court, with a wiffleball and ping pong paddes.* But Pickleball was only introduced (officially) in Greenwich CT in 2010 through the efforts of USA Pickleball Association Ambassador, Betsy Underhill.

Join the Greenwich Pickleball Player Roster & Network!
Looking to connect with players at your level? Both Greenwich residents and nearby non-residents are welcome to join the Greenwich Pickleball Network. The network is hosted on Global Pickleball Network, the officially endorsed software of the USA Pickleball Association. Registration is free. What is good about GPN is that you provide your level, and you can include your contact info, so that you can reach out to people who may be at a similar level of play.
