IMPORTANT NEWS
RTM BOC and Finance Committees VOTE to Line Item Cut Pickleball
Is all lost?
The James Waters (District 12 RTM member) motion to amend the budget and CUT Pickleball funding at the RTM Budget Oversight Committee (BOC) on Thursday, April 28 was successful. The RTM Finance Committee also voted against Pickleball.
The full RTM will now vote on this line item cut of Pickleball Funding on Monday, May 9.
The $116K in Pickleball funding is no longer earmarked for Bible Street. In addition, the BET has imposed protective conditions to make the process more transparent and fair for all.
This is a very positive development! (Unfortunately, there were other reasons that BOC cut Pickleball.)
All Greenwich communities are protected from unwanted development by these conditions on funding.
Now that a line item cut of Pickleball funding has been APPROVED by two RTM committees, Pickleball funding is very likely to be cut this year.
The only - very SLIM - hope to reinstate the funding is through the RTM vote on May 9.
ACTION TO TAKE NOW
Email members of the RTM in your District ASAP - prior to the RTM District meetings on 5/4 and 5/5 and prior to the final full RTM vote on May 9.
Attend your RTM District Meeting: Each of the 12 RTM Districts will hold ‘District meetings’ - on Wed, May 4 and Thur, May 5 - before the full RTM meeting. Some are in person, some are via Zoom. View RTM District meeting dates, times, locations and or Zoom links here by District.
If you haven’t already, sign the Petition to support more Pickleball Courts in Greenwich.
IMPORTANT DATES
Full RTM Budget Vote is on Monday, May 9 at 7PM at Central Middle School in person, or via zoom. Mark your calendars.
Town of Greenwich RTM
Email your RTM District Members
Your RTM district members represent you as a resident of their district. The button links below will open the official Greenwich contact form for each of the 12 Districts.
What to say in your RTM email
Be sure to include where you live, your district, and your full name.
Specify in the subject line that you support funding for more Pickleball access and that you are a member of their District.
Ask them to vote to support Pickleball when the Line Item Cut of funding is brought to the floor for their vote. With only one functional dedicated Pickleball court in town, players must purchase and transport their own expensive, heavy nets; set up and breakdown before and after play; all in the one hour allowed through the town reservation system.
Let them know that the $116K Pickleball funding is NO LONGER EARMARKED for Bible Street. This funding now has protective conditions attached to its release by the BET to ensure a fair and transparent process.
Share how passionate your are about Pickleball - and how great it is for the entire Greenwich community!

Contact us if you’re looking for a specific RTM member’s contact info - we probably have it.
If you have personal connections on the RTM, now’s the time to reach out!
While we don’t recommend spamming the entire RTM, there is a form provided by the town to contact all 230 RTM members with a single email. Because you are represented by your district, it is best to email just your district members using the links above.
Looking for the details of when your District will meet on May 4 or 5 - the in-person location or zoom link? Find District meeting details here.
You can stop here! There’s no need to reach out to other elected officials at this time!
