Let’s start with the basics. Who can use Town of Greenwich, Parks and Recreation outdoor Pickleball courts?
During the off season, roughly December 1 through April 8, there is no enforcement of residency requirements, or pass requirements, nor is the court reservation system operational - DURING THE OFF SEASON.
During the Season, April 8 - December 1, the rules are quite different.
It’s important to remember that 16 out of the 18 lined Greenwich Pickleball courts are shared, DUAL use. These are lined tennis courts, some with and some without portable nets, so these rules apply to tennis players as well.
The Basic Rules to use Town Pickleball Courts IN SEASON
You must be a resident of Greenwich - but there’s more…
You must have VERIFIED your Greenwich residency with the Town.
You must be a verified resident AND have purchased a current Pickleball/Tennis Pass $40-$45, free in 2023 ($25 in 2024) for seniors age 65+ (activated on your OnePass card).
Per the town “OnePass with Tennis/Pickleball option enabled is required beginning in May to play on Town Courts and make online court reservations for Tennis and Pickleball.” *
* Note that the court reservation system is active starting April 10, 2023.
Tennis/Pickleball Guest Passes
There are two ways to use the outdoor Town Pickleball courts during the season - and BOTH are as a guest of a resident. 1) a seasonal pass, and 2) a one-time day pass.
I’d like to thank the very patient town staff members who answered MANY emails from me asking for clarification on process and rules. You guys are the best.
Season Guest Pass for Tennis/Pickleball - $85
Only verified resident account holders can purchase Tennis/Pickleball seasonal guest passes.
Each verified resident can purchase ONE season guest pass. Each person in your Household Account who has Tennis/Pickleball enabled can purchase a season guest pass. The passes are numbered and are not specifically assigned to any one member of the household.
Residents purchasing a Season Guest Tennis/Pickleball option must first add the Tennis/Pickleball option to their account, if not previously purchased.
Tennis/Pickleball is free for resident seniors - age 65+, and the Tennis/Pickleball option comes enabled on senior accounts - according to reports from the field (thanks Bruce!) We think this is because Tennis/Pickleball is free for seniors.
Upon purchase & checkout, the $85 season guest pass must be assigned to ONE resident member of the household account. HOWEVER - any member in the household account, with Tennis/Pickleball enabled, can use the season pass for a guest. (Confirmed with the town.)
There is NO senior discount for a Seasonal Guest Pass - the cost is $85.
According to town representatives: “The guest pass receipt that you receive via email (Also printable from your account ‘activity’) after purchase can be printed or shown on your phone. It will be linked to your household account but not to a specific person. Therefore, anyone in your household that has the Tennis/Pickleball option can bring a guest with the guest pass.”
The seasonal guest pass is generic and does not have to be assigned to one particular person/guest by name. Residents are free to bring any single guest with each Seasonal pass purchase.
The guest MUST be accompanied by the resident pass holder.
PRESENTING your Guest Pass to the Court Attendant - according to town representatives: “The Tennis Monitor at the court will not scan the passes but they will check your OnePass and guest pass number to verify you are the correct person for the reservation. They will have a sheet with all the scheduled reservation information for that day/location, you will just have to present your OnePass card and your guest pass receipt via phone or printed out.
So if you reserve a court on the same day, the attendant may not have your information. Always have your reservation confirmation info on your phone. You may have to prove to other players that you have reserved the court.

Greenwich Tennis/Pickleball DAY Guest Passes - $15
Only Greenwich residents with a valid, verified account AND who are current tennis/pickle pass holders can purchase single use, day Pickleball guest passes (valid for that calendar year).
The cost is $15 per day/person per session.
Verified residents can buy/use as many day passes as they wish.
Guest passes are technically required during the playing season, April 10 - November 30.
Your day pass for your guest can be presented to the court attendant, using your cell phone, or you can print the receipt/ticket, much like the season pass. The court attendant will take your printed pass, and or write the number of your pass down, to ‘in-validate’ it. Your day pass is valid until presented for play.
From Town Staff: “The $15 receipt is not stamped for a certain day, it is actually good for one-time use throughout the season. Each receipt will have a specific number on it. If you have it printed out, the Tennis Monitor will collect it. If you are showing it on your phone, the Tennis Monitor will record the ticket number. Regardless we will mark it as invalid in our system once it has been used.”
