Town of Rye NY = Port Chester & Rye Brook Pickleball Courts, Clinics & Programs

The villages of Port Chester & Rye Brook make up the ‘Town of Rye’. (Along with a weird little spot down near Mamaroneck called Rye Neck.)

Right on the border of Greenwich, Pickleball in these villages are particularly convenient for Greenwich Pickleball players to access. In fact, there is a lot of friendly cross border play between the Port Chester and Greenwich Picklers.

Below is a list of Pickleball courts, Pickleball clinics and Pickleball open play, and groups that are located in Rye Brook, NY AND Port Chester, NY.

Note that the ‘City of Rye’ is a completely different entity. Westchester County NY is definitely odd that way.

These courts, programs and resources include:

  • Groups / Resources and other ways to connect with the Port Chester / Rye Brook Pickleball Community.

  • Port Chester & Rye Brook Recreation Pickleball Programs requiring registration - clinics, leagues etc.

  • Port Chester & Rye Brook open play courts

  • Private facility programs.

This list does not include the much more exclusive CT & NY country club-based Pickleball programs which require sponsorship, letters of recommendation, extensive vetting period, a significant wait list, and a substantial initiation fee.

Port Chester NY Pickleball Courts

The Village of Port Chester has no town Pickleball courts, indoor or outdoor for public use. They rely instead on the use of the Rye Brook courts in Crawford Park for their programs.

Indoor Pickleball Courts

The Westchester Tennis Center on the Post Road in Port Chester has four hard Pickleball courts (painted on two tennis courts) that are available for rent.

Rye Brook Pickleball Courts

Outdoor Pickleball Courts - Rye Brook

Like everywhere else, Rye Brook’s Pickleball courts are pretty limited, but there are three courts (painted lines on a cement basketball court) in Crawford Park (aka Rye Hills Park). Portable nets have been donated by a local Pickleball group.

As far as we know, there are no indoor courts for public use in Rye Brook.

The Village of Port Chester offers its official Pickleball programs through a third party provider. Unfortunately their website isn’t working as of September 8, 2023.

The Recreation page is pretty up-to-date. For the latest Pickleball news for Port Chester, I recommend using the search bar at the top of the town website to search on ‘Pickleball"‘, or click on “Pickleball” in the left nav for program info.

Note that there are NO Town outdoor Pickleball courts in Port Chester, only in Rye Brook.

The Rye Brook Parks and Rec site doesn’t get updated very often so it is best to go directly to their site for the latest info. See buttons below.

The clinics and lessons are offered by a third party provider - same provider as Port Chester, and website isn’t working.

In 2018, 3 pickleball courts were painted onto the cement basketball court in the Rye Hills Park (connected to Crawford Park - aka the Crawford Mansion). Portable nets are now there permanently, thanks to the hard work of the Port Chester Pickleball players.

Crawford Park (aka Rye Hills Park) is just 7 miles/15 minutes from the Loughlin Ave Courts in Cos Cob.

During the ‘Pickleball Season’ you need a tennis/pickle pass to use these courts (much like Greenwich), but during the off-season you can walk on (again, much like Greenwich).

Open Play at Crawford is a good deal, but you must pre-register by the month). This program appears to be the BEST deal for open Pickleball play in the area. Non-residents can pay a $25 monthly fee to play during any of the days/times listed during that month. You can only register for one month at a time.

Like Stamford & Mount Kisco Parks & Rec, Rye Brook uses Community Pass to take registrations, so if you have an account set up for one town, you can use it for both.

But honestly, the registration for this program is super confusing. And then you have to book a court and time after you register, for each time you play. So for Greenwich residents, I suggest off season use for this facility.

OR, better yet, in-season, sign up to play with the Port Chester Teamreach group.
